  • Sourced from Ledbetter Family Vineyards in Lodi CA. Two sites: on the bench in rocky, well drained soils, as well as along the edge of the Mokelumne River in sandy alluvial soils.

    The vineyards are farmed regeneratively (Certified Regenerative by A Greener World) without the use of glyphosates (RoundUp) or other pre- or post-emergents. In fact, AVIVO is one of just three American wine brands certified to be glyphosate-free.

  • 2023 will go down as one of the most phenomenal vintages in California history. Higher than average rainfall kicked off the growing season which was followed by a successful bloom and a cool spring. The vintage remained cool with plenty of sunshine and little moisture allowing for long hang times and preservation of acidity. We picked late with low sugars, balanced chemistry and mature tannins. Perfect!

    The grapes were harvested on September 19, 2023.

  • The grapes were whole-cluster pressed to tank and cold settled overnight. The resulting juice was racked to tank and neutral barrels. Fermentations were 100% indigenous. The tank portion fermented at 58F to retain aromatics while the barrel fermentations were carried out without temp control to promote yeast autolysis for palate texture and complexity. To preserve its natural acidity, malolactic fermentation was not allowed.

  • Aged in neutral French oak barrels and stainless steel for 9 months.

  • The nose opens with aromas of lemon verbena, white peach, and sea spray. It’s joyfully edgy on the palate with crisp acidity and a wonderfully textured core of yeast driven silkiness. Flavors of pink grapefruit, Bosc pear, and white flowers linger on the long, seamless finish.
