“When you work with nature instead of against it, everything gets better—from the health of the soils and vines, to the flavors in your glass.”

AVIVO is a very different wine company.

Our founding team has grape growing, wine making, and tech startup experience, gathered in parallel over more than two decades together.

We are united by our shared passion to make delicious wine while healing the planet.

Each of us is curious, open-minded, and comfortable questioning conventional wisdom in pursuit of something better – especially when it comes to what we grow, how we grow it, and how we make it.

Experience taught us that California’s Mediterranean climate is better suited to Italian varietals. Not only do they make delicious wine, but they’re easy to farm regeneratively because they’re fundamentally in balance.

Better wine. Better planet.

And thus was born AVIVO.

Meet The Team

Ridgely has always done things in parallel. He started writing code at 16, bought his Healdsburg farm at 31, restarted the California olive oil industry in 1990, and launched QuickBooks in 1991. AVIVO combines everything he learned — a technologist's instinct to question conventional wisdom, backed by three decades of farming experience that proved regenerative practices make better wine.

Daniel Fitzgerald
Winemaker

Daniel crafts wines that truly reflect their origin, balancing site, season, and heritage. After trading architecture studies for a life in the vineyard, he honed his skills with renowned wineries around the world before bringing his passion for clean, expressive winemaking to AVIVO.

Craig Ledbetter
Winegrower

Craig is a third-generation winegrower fostering AVIVO’s regeneratively farmed grapes. Deeply committed to sustainability, Craig has spent his career nurturing vineyards that prioritize soil health, biodiversity, and climate resilience—helping ensure every AVIVO wine begins with the best possible fruit.

Wine is more than a beverage - it’s a way of bringing people together and celebrating shared values.  Every bottle reflects our belief that good wine should nourish community, our palates, and the planet.

That’s why we farm to restore soil health, capture carbon, and encourage biodiversity, all while being transparent about what goes into our wines (and what doesn’t). We keep our winemaking simple so the fruit, and the intention, shines through.
