  • 95% Sangiovese

    5% Syrah

  • Sourced from Ledbetter Family Vineyards in Lodi, CA, the Sangiovese and Syrah are planted on the bench in rocky, well drained soils.

The vineyards are farmed regeneratively (Certified Regenerative by A Greener World) without the use of glyphosates (RoundUp) or other pre- or post-emergents. In fact, AVIVO is one of just three American wine brands certified to be glyphosate-free.

  • 2023 will go down as one of the most phenomenal vintages in California history. Higher than average rainfall kicked off the growing season which led to a successful bloom. A cooler spring led to a growing season that was 14 days behind 2022. The vintage remained cool with plenty of sunshine and little moisture allowing for long hang times and preservation of acidity. We picked late with low sugars, balanced chemistry and mature tannins. Perfect!!

The grapes were harvested on September 14, 2023.

  • The grapes were picked two weeks before those for our red, as we wanted great acidity and low color. We harvested at night and whole cluster pressed immediately upon arrival. The newly pressed juice was cold settled in tank overnight then racked off heavy solids to neutral oak barrels. The barrels were left to ferment with indigenous yeast. All barrels underwent weekly stirring until a month before bottling to build texture, mouthfeel, and complexity.

  • Aged in neutral French oak barrels for 5 months.

The finished wine was bottled in May 2024.

  • To truly appreciate this vintage you really must take a good look at the hue. This is about as close to perfect as we have come, a pale, electric, salmon pink rosé that shows its true color. The nose full of bright aromas of raspberry sorbet, hibiscus, and (surprise!) freshly sliced cucumber. The texture is refreshing and delightful, revealing flavors of fresh strawberry, stone fruit, and a touch of melon rind.
